Lessons and classes

For people who want tailor-made solutions to help them live life as it should be lived - with energy and zest.

When you love life and love what you do, sometimes it can be hard to stop. Even when our bodies are showing fatigue, we try to keep going. 'Go faster!' says our culture. 'Try harder!'

But as Stephen Covey once said, if you're in the wrong jungle, hacking at the undergrowth ever faster won't help! What you need is a map and a guide to help you find the right track.

Having individual or small group lessons in the Alexander Technique can provide just this perspective in a customised, intimate and supportive framework.

Individual lessons

One-to one lessons are a great choice if you have a very particular goal, if you feel you need to work in-depth, or if you prefer privacy. Lessons cost £28, and last up to 40 minutes. I teach Monday, Wednesday and Friday 10am - 1pm, and Thursday 10am - 3pm. Other times are available by negotiation.

The number of lessons you will need will vary according to your goal, your ability to work outside of lessons, and your desire to improve. Having said this, I often recommend a series of 6 lessons to a beginning student, as this gives me time to teach you some of the most important principles of the work, but also gives us both a defined period to evaluate if the lessons are helping you. I offer a discount if you pay for the full lesson series in advance - book 6 lessons but pay for 5.

Introductory Workshops

This is a short workshop that aims to give you an experience of the Alexander Technique and what it can offer you. Run from my teaching room, I offer tea and cake and a handout to take away. The class runs for 1.5 hours and costs £10. Numbers are stricly limited to five, so booking is essential!

Next workshop: Thursday 28 April, 10.30am - 12pm.

Group courses

For many people this is a terrific way to learn. In each 6 week Introductory course that I run, a friendly and supportive group dynamic forms that each participant finds really beneficial. Participants find that observation and discussion are not just helpful, but can speed up the learning process.
I run 6 week Introductory courses periodically throughout the year. If you'd like me to keep you informed of classes and events, click here.

Shared lessons.

Sometimes it can be helpful to share a lesson between two or three people. This bridges the gap between a one-to-one lesson and the group class - there's interaction and a group dynamic, but it's small enough that you can have a sense of privacy and individual support. This option is especially good if you have friends that are interested too. Learning in a group can be a real hoot! Cost is £15 per person for a one hour lesson.

Need help?

Don't be afraid to contact me and ask for advice. Believe me, I know just how hard it can be to decide upon the best course of action when you're in a tight spot. Give me a call, or send an email. This gives me the chance to have a chat with you and discuss the best next step forward.
